Clinics

Baby Clinic

Thursday 1.30 - 3.30pm (no appointment necessary)

Child Health Surveillance

Appointments are sent out automatically, but if you have missed your appointment or are concerned, please phone the surgery or contact the health visitor.

Child Immunisations

These are carried out, by appointment, with the practice nurses. The immunisation schedule can be found in the red book supplied when your baby was born. We strongly recommend that all children be fully immunised if possible. Immunisation has protected most of the population of Scotland against infectious disease. These illnesses can, however, flare up at any time, and we all must ensure that our families and ourselves are properly immunised.

Ear Syringing

The practice carries out ear syringing. It is extremely important that patients oil their ears for at least five days prior to attending these appointments, in order to soften the earwax.

Family Planning/Well Woman Clinics

We provide contraceptive advice, cervical smears and well woman advice during normal surgery hours. The practice nurse runs an evening well woman clinic on Thursdays. Where applicable, you will be invited to make an appointment with the practice nurse for regular cervical smears. Please ask the receptionist to make an appointment for you to see the doctor or nurse who will discuss all methods of family planning including the pill, coil, cap, Implanon Implant etc. Emergency contraception advice is available at any time.

Fit4Life @99

All our patients are invited to attend for a full health check and lifestyle advice shortly after their 16th birthday. Additionally, if you have any worries or concerns that you would like to discuss with a health professional, please contact reception for an appointment. The aim of this clinic is to give young people advice and support in a relaxed setting. We assure you that any information you give to us will be treated with the strictest confidence.

General Nursing Clinics

There are daily general nursing clinics for services such as wound care, dressings, swabs and bloods.

Asthma Clinic

This clinic is led by the practice nurses who review all our patients with asthma and related diseases. By seeing her regularly and following her advice, you can minimise your symptoms. If you have any problems between your appointments, please contact the surgery for advice.

Diabetic Clinic

Diabetic patients are encouraged to attend regularly at these clinics run by the practice nurses and Dr Beaumont. By coming to the clinics you will improve your control of your diabetes and reduce the risk of complications associated with diabetes.

Follow-Up Clinic For Heart Patients

In this clinic patients are followed up after hospital admission for heart disease. The practice nurse will advise you on healthy lifestyles in addition to doing routine tests. It is important you attend for review.

Hypertension Clinic

At this clinic the practice nurse will check your blood pressure and urine and will discuss any problems or answer any questions you may have about your condition. If you have a family history of high blood pressure or heart disease, it is important that you get your blood pressure checked regularly. Please contact the surgery for information.

Minor Surgery

If you have a problem which your doctor feels is best treated by a minor operation it may be carried out at the surgery if appropriate. We also hold a wart clinic every Wednesday afternoon. At this clinic, liquid nitrogen is used to freeze warts and other skin problems.

Pharmacy Advice Clinic

A pharmacy advice clinic is held at 47 Castle Street on Wednesday morning for patients who are having problems with or would like to discuss their medication or the management of their pain. Please contact reception to make an appointment to see the pharmacist.

Phlebotomy Clinic

This service is provided every day for the purpose of taking blood samples. Initial attendances at the phlebotomist should be arranged via the doctor or nurse.

Stop Smoking Clinic

Smoking damages your body and those around you who inhale the smoke. The benefits to be obtained from stopping smoking start within an hour of smoking your last cigarette. If you want help to stop smoking, we can offer you support and advice including referral to the Health Promotion Service's Stop Smoking Clinics. For further information please ask the doctors, nurses or receptionists.

Travel Vaccinations

If you are planning to travel abroad, please contact reception. They will arrange for advice to be provided on all your travel needs using Travax, an information system provided by, and regularly updated by the Scottish Executive. This advice may differ from that given by your travel agent and the final decision as to which advice should be followed lies with the patient. Please note that any vaccinations or medication not available under GMS services will be subject to a charge (see Non-NHS services overleaf).

Well Person Clinic

If you are aged between 30 and 75, and have any concerns about your health and do not attend any other routine clinics, you are invited to make an appointment with one of our nurse practitioners for a well person check.
